[Maoist Recruitment Case] NIA files charge sheet against two in Patna

Synopsis

The case involves the collection of levies by members/leaders of the CPI (Maoist) and the recruitment of cadres for the revival of the banned Naxal organization CPI (Maoist).

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday i.e. October 8, 2022, filed a charge sheet before the NIA Special Court, Patna against two, in a case pertaining to levy collection by the members/leaders of CPI (Maoist) Recruitment of cadres for the revival of the banned Naxal organization CPI (Maoist).

The two accused charge-sheeted are, Vijay Kumar Arya under Sections 120B & 121A of the IPC, and Sections 13, 17, 18, 18B, 20, 38, 39 & 40 of the UA (P) Act 1967, and Umesh Choudhary under Sections 18 & 19 of the UA (P) Act 1967.

The investigations have revealed that accused Vijay Kumar Arya, a Central government Committee member of the banned terrorist organization CPI (Maoist) conspired with other accused persons and was actively involved in propagating the ideology of CPI (Maoist).

The NIA press release further stated that the accused Umesh Choudhary had provided shelter to Vijay Arya at his house in Rohtas, Bihar, and was a part of the conspiracy for furthering the activities of CPI (Maoist).

As per the NIA press release, the case was initially registered on April 12, 2022, at Rohtas Police Station, Bihar, and later re-registered by the NIA on April 26, 2022.
