MP Rajan Vichare Approaches Bombay HC For Reinstatement Of Security Personal; Alleges Misuse Of State Machinery By Shinde Govt

The petition before the high court seeks an increase in the number of security personnel for the MP and an audit of the Nirbhaya Fund.
MP Rajan Vichare of the Uddhav Thackeray faction has moved before the Bombay High Court against the decision taken to reduce the security of the MP by the present Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Vichare has submitted before the court that the security provided to him is reduced to one constable and that there is a threat to him and his family, therefore, security should be reinstated.
He has alleged that the office bearers and the activist of the Uddhav Thackeray faction are being harassed by filing false cases. Further, he has stated that the lawlessness has increased to such an extent that the present government is misusing the machinery to harass the Member of Parliament.
The petition filed by Vichare also states that the workers in the home constituency of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde are coerced to join his party and that the petitioner (Vichare) and the 3 other corporators are the only ones in the Thane constituency with the Uddhav Thackeray faction.
Vichare has stated in his petition that the private PAs who are not MPs or MLAs are being given security by the present Chief Minister at the cost of the exchequer only because they are close to the Chief Minister.
Alleging mis-utilization of the Nirbhaya Fund the petition states,
"In 2022, the Mumbai police procured 220 Boleros, 35 Ertigas, 313 Pulsar motorcycles and 200 Activa two-wheelers with the corpus of 30 crore that it received as part of the Nirbhaya Fund from the central government. It gave two vehicles to each police station across the city including the cyber, traffic and coastal police units. The fund is specifically meant for the security of women. The Nirbhaya fund was constituted by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The diversion is not acceptable. The Nirbhaya fund is mean to protect women from atrocities, and its misuse is not acceptable."
Vichare has prayed before the High Court to reinstate the security personnel for him and his family. He has also prayed before the court to direct the respondents to give all the vehicles to the Nirbhaya Squad and also conduct an audit of the Nirbhaya Fund.
