“The nine accused charge-sheeted are members of an international drug smuggling network involved in trafficking of heroin from Afghanistan to India for distribution in Punjab, Delhi, Gujarat, UP, and other states of India,” the NIA press release stated.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday i.e. August 29, 2022, filed a supplementary chargesheet before the NIA Special Court, Ahemdabad against nine accused including three Afghan nationals in connection with the seizure of 2988.21 kg of Heroin at Mundra port in Gujarat.
The case pertains to the seizure of a total of 2988.21 kg of Heroin seized between September 17 to September 19, 2021, at Container Freight Station, Mundra Port, Gujarat by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) concealed in semi-processed talc stone consignment.
“The nine accused charge-sheeted are members of International drugs smuggling network involved in trafficking of Heroin from Afghanistan to India for further distribution in Punjab, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and other states of India,” the NIA press release stated.
The nine charge-sheeted accused are:
- Sarabjit Singh @Setthi under Section 120B of IPC, Section 8(c), 21(c), 29 of the NDPS Act, 1995.
- Jannat Gul Kaker (Afghan National) under Section 120B of IPC, Section 8(c), 21(c), 29 of the NDPS Act, 1995, and Sections 17, 18 of UA(P) Act.
- Mujahid Shinwari (Afghan National) under Section 120B of IPC, Section 8(c), 21(c), 29 of the NDPS Act, 1995, and Sections 17, 18 of UA(P) Act.
- Shami Ullah (Afghan National) under Section 120B of IPC, Section 8(c), 21(c), 29 of the NDPS Act, 1995, and Sections 17, 18 of UA(P) Act.
- Mohammad Lal Kaker under Section 120B of IPC, Section 8(c), 21(c), 29 of the NDPS Act, 1995, and Sections 17, 18 of UA(P) Act.
- Imtiaz Ahmed under Section 120B of IPC, Section 8(c), 21(c), 29 of the NDPS Act, 1995.
- Imran Ahmed under Section 120B of IPC, Section 8(c), 21(c), 29 of the NDPS Act, 1995.
- Balwinder Singh under Section 120B of IPC, Section 8(c), 21(c), 29 of the NDPS Act, 1995.
- Jasvir Singh under Section 120B of IPC, Section 8(c), 21(c), 29 of the NDPS Act, 1995.
As per the NIA press release, the matter was initially registered by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Gandhi Dham on September 13, 2021, and later was registered by the NIA on October 6, 2021.
