NIA Files Charge Sheet Against 8 In Pulwama JeM Conspiracy Case

Synopsis

The case pertains to a conspiracy hatched by local/Pakistani terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), along with over groundworkers (OGWs), to execute terrorist acts against security forces in South Kashmir.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday i.e. September 7, 2022, filed a charge sheet before the NIA Special Court, Jammu against eight accused allegedly involved in a conspiracy hatched by local/Pakistani terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), along with Over Groundworkers (OGWs), to execute terrorist acts against security forces in South Kashmir.

According to investigations, the accused persons provided safe shelter, transportation, and other logistics support for JeM terrorists Aquaib Mushtaq Bhat (local) and Kamaal Bhai @ Jatt (Pakistani) who were preparing to commit terrorist acts against security forces.

“Subsequently, security forces had launched a search operation in the area of Chewa Kalan, District Pulwama in which both of them were killed in an encounter with the security forces”, the NIA press release stated.

The eight accused charge-sheeted are:

  1. Naseer Ahmed Malik @ Moulvi under Section 120 B & 121 A of IPC; Section 25 (1AA) of Arms Act 1959; Sections 18, 19, 20, 38 & 39 of UA (P) Act 1967
  2. Imtiyaz Ahmed Rather under Section 120 B & 121 A of IPC; Sections 18, 19, 20, 38 & 39 of UA (P) Act 1967
  3. Rayees Ahmed Sheikh @ Jugpeer under Section 120 B & 121 A of IPC; Sections 18, 20, 38 & 39 of UA (P) Act 1967
  4. Yawer Rashid Ganaie under Section 120 B & 121 A of IPC; Sections 18, 20, 38 & 39 of UA (P) Act 1967
  5. Suhail Ahmed Khan @ Sahil under Section 120 B & 121 A of IPC; Sections 18, 20, 38 & 39 of UA (P) Act 1967
  6. Shahid Ahmed Shergojri under Section 120 B & 121 A of IPC; Sections 18, 20, 38 & 39 of UA (P) Act 1967
  7. Anayat Gulzar under Section 120 B & 121 A of IPC; Sections 18, 20, 38 & 39 of UA (P) Act 1967
  8. Jahangir Ahmed Dar under Section 120 B & 121 A of IPC; Sections 18, 20, 38 & 39 of UA (P) Act 1967.

As per the NIA press release, the case was initially resgistered on March 11, 2022, at Pulwama police station and later re-registered by NIA on April 8, 2022.
