On January 29, 2014, Nido Tania, son of former Congress MLA from Arunachal Pradesh Nido Pavitra, was beaten up by several shopkeepers in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi, after they made fun of his hairstyle.
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday deferred hearing in a plea filed by the convict- Farman in connection with the 2014 Nido Tania Murder case.
During the hearing, the counsel for Farman submitted that he has been incarcerated for 7 years, which is more than half of the punishment, therefore the remaining sentence may be suspended. The counsel also informed the court that the other three co-accused’s sentences have already been suspended. Furthermore, he stated that Farman is currently on interim bail, and requested the same be extended.
Noting that on November 18, 2021, Farman’s sentence was suspended till the next date of hearing, Justice Anup Kumar Mendiratta listed the matter before the concerned roster bench on February 14, 2023.

Apart from Farman, Pawan, Sunder Singh, and Sunny Uppal were the other three convicts in the case. The trial court had convicted and sentenced all four under Sections 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
Pawan and Sunder were sentenced to seven years in prison and a Rs. 20,000 fine, while Sunny Pal was given a three-year sentence.
In May 2020, Justice Suresh Kumar Kait granted Farman three months' bail, who was sentenced to ten years in prison, on the condition that he shall furnish a personal bond of Rs. 10,000 before the Jail Superintendent.
