The Registrar General cited the circulars issued way back in May 20, 1987 and May 14, 2020.

Reiterating earlier circular Instructions, the Telangana High Court recently issued a new circular directing that no religious functions shall be organized in the District Judiciary in the State of Telangana either by Advocates or by Bar Associations.

As per the circular issued by the Registrar General of the High Court, it was brought to the notice of the High Court that religious functions / religious ceremonies were being organised in the Court premises of the District Judiciary.

The circular highlighted that in was in the knowledge of the Advocates and the Judicial officers that doing the same is prohibited.

“You are aware that the High Court in the references cited issued circular instructions instructing all the Judicial Officers in the State not to use the Court premises for religious functions/ religious ceremonies and the functions organized by the Courts should be avoided,” the circular read.

Therefore, having considered the present scenario, the High Court viewed the matter very seriously and reiterated the earlier circular instructions.

The High Court directed all the Unit Heads in the State to see that no religious functions / religious ceremonies and functions organised by the Courts, are organized in Court Premises by the Advocates / Bar Associations and others in future.

Further, the Court directed all the Unit Heads to instruct the Judicial Officers working under their control to follow the instructions scrupulously.

“Any deviation in this regard will be viewed seriously,” the circular read.
