Plea in Bombay HC Challenges Ravindra Waikar's Victory From Mumbai North West Seat

Shah contended that Waikar's daughter and his associates were present in the control room and used their phones, which is not permitted

An independent candidate from the Mumbai North West seat has moved the Bombay High Court seeking to declare Shiv Sena leader Ravindra Waikar's win as void in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. 

The plea also seeks to restrain Waikar from taking the oath as a Lok Sabha MP.

In the Mumbai North West seat, UBT Shiv Sena's Amol Kirtikar was initially declared the winner. 

However, after recounting, Ravindra Waikar was declared the winner by a margin of 48 votes. 

The petitioner, Bharat Shah, who contested as an independent candidate and received 937 votes, has alleged in his plea that the EVMs in the constituency were used for unfair practices.. 

Furthermore, Shah contended that Waikar's daughter and his associates were present in the control room and used their phones, which is not permitted. 

Shah has sought from the high court the preservation of the CCTV footage of the control center.
