 A plea has been filed in the Delhi High court seeking a helpline number for registration of Covid 19 vaccine and a policy on urgent basis for door to door Covid Vaccination for “super senior and bed ridden” citizens in India.

The petition filed by Dhiraj Aggarwal, an 89 year old lady and an arthritis patient has submitted that the present petition has been filed to agitate the cause of the super senior and bed ridden citizens who are unable to go physically to the vaccination centers to get themselves vaccinated thus becoming vulnerable to Covid 19.

The petitioner has stated that many of her fellow super senior and bed ridden citizens do not have the facility of personal transport or do not even have a family thus making it difficult for them to get themselves registered on CoWIN Application and visit the centers to get themselves vaccinated.

The petitioner has further pointed out that according to reports some states and UT’s like Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand have been doing door to door campaign to get the people vaccinated since several months. Moroever countries like Singapore and Australia already have system in place to vaccinate old age and bed ridden citizens at their home by sending a team comprising a doctor and a nurse to administer the vaccine shot.

The Petitioner has also informed that she had sent a representation dated May 22, 2021 through an email to the government to introduce a helpline number for registration of Covid 19 vaccine and a policy on urgent basis for door to door covid 19 vaccination for super senior and bed ridden citizens in Delhi.

The matter is listed before a bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh.
