A Delhi Court on Monday accepted the closure report filed by the Delhi Police in a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

"Cancellation accepted," noted Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Gomti Manocha of Patiala House Court while passing the order.

The case stemmed from allegations made by a minor wrestler, who had accused Singh of sexual harassment. However, during an in-chamber proceeding on August 1, 2023, the complainant informed the then-presiding judge that she was satisfied with the police investigation and did not oppose the closure of the case.

The Delhi Police had filed the closure report on June 15, 2023, after the girl’s father admitted to making a false complaint against Singh due to personal grievances. The police stated that no corroborative evidence had been found to support the allegations.

While the POCSO case was recommended for cancellation, Singh still faces charges of sexual harassment and stalking in a separate case filed by six other women wrestlers.

Singh, a former BJP MP, has consistently denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
