SC Collegium recommends appointment of 11 advocates as judges in various High Courts

Last Wednesday, the Supreme Court collegium has issued statements recommending the appointment of a total of 11 advocates as judges in various High Courts across the country.

The names so recommended are:

Madras High Court -  Advocate J. Sathya Narayana Prasad

Rajasthan High Court: 1. Advocate Kuldeep Mathur, 
                                       2. Advocate Maneesh Sharma,
                                       3. Advocate Rekha Borana, and
                                       4. Advocate Sameer Jain.

Additionally, the Collegium has also recommended the elevation of Judicial Officer Shubha Mehta as a judge in the Rajasthan High Court.

Allahabad High Court: Advocate Manu Khare

Karnataka High Court: 1. Advocate Anant Ramanath Hegde,
                                       2. Advocate Cheppudira Monnappa Poonacha,
                                       3. Advocate Siddaiah Rachaiah, and
                                       4. Advocate Kannankuzhyil Sreedharan Hemalekha.

 

In its meeting held on Friday, October 8, 2021, the Collegium has also proposed the elevation of Advocate Soubhik Mitter, while reiterating its earlier recommendation to elevate Advocate Sakya Sen in the Calcutta High Court.
