Anticipatory bail plea filed 6 months ago not listed until now: SC directs Registrar General, Patna HC to place said application before CJ Sanjay Karol for its disposal

The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Registrar General of the Patna High Court to place an anticipatory bail application filed in April before Chief Justice Sanjay Karol to enable him to get the matter listed for its disposal.
An aggrieved petitioner approached the top Court by way of a Special Leave Petition after his anticipatory bail application filed before Patna High Court on April 5, 2021, was not listed till date.
The petitioner had filed the said application before the High Court after the same was rejected by the Court of Additional District Sessions (Excise), Sitamarhi.
A bench led by Chief Justice NV Ramana along with Justice Surya Kant and Justice Hima Kohli found that despite a lapse of about 6 months’ time, the bail application had not been heard by the High Court.
This prompted the court to direct the High Court to list the matter and dispose the same at the earliest.
