Supreme Court stays Bombay High Court order staying NEET result declaration, allows NTA to release Results

The Supreme Court has today stayed the order passed by the Bombay High Court directing National Testing Agency to maintain status quo in declaring the NEET Examination results.
A divisional bench of Justice L Nageswara Rao, Justice Sanjeev Khanna, and Justice BR Gavai said that the result of 16 Lakh students cannot be stayed.
Two NEET aspirants had approached the Bombay High Court stating that their answer sheets and test booklets got mixed up during the examination. In furtherance to which the Bombay HC had directed the testing agency to hold the examination for both the candidates again while staying the result declaration.
However, The Testing agency approached the Supreme Court stating that due to the order results of more than 16 Lakh students will be withheld even when it is ready.
The National Testing Agency had approached the Supreme Court challenging order of the Bombay High Court directing a stay on the declaration of NEET Results for the 2021 entrance examination.
The bench said, "We will decide what happens to the two students upon reopening (after Diwali vacation). In the meanwhile, we issue notice and file a counter. But we cannot hold the results of 16 lakh students."
Counsel appearing for the students had submitted that wrong answers to the question were given in the answer sheet, The invigilator has also accepted that the answer sheets were mixed.
