Attorney General announces National Award of mediator's achievements; five mediators across the country to be recognized

AG has also proposed to set up the Attorney General's National Council of Mediator's Watch. 

Attorney General for India R Venkataramani, on Friday announced that he proposed to set up the National Award of mediator's achievements.

"I propose to recognize five mediators across the country nationally. It is very important to recognize achievements.. it is a very small and humble initiative on the part of the Attorney General..", the AG said while speaking at the National Conference organized by Delhi High Court's Mediation and Conciliation Centre, SAMADHAN, on the topic, "Mediation: At the Dawn of a Golden Age".

The Attorney General further proposed the setting up of the Attorney General's National Council of mediator's watch, to gather all the experiences of mediations across the country.

He added that he wished to involve the Advocate General's of all states and, if possible, senior members of the bar across the country.

The SG expressed his hope to be in a position to push these two agendas during his short tenure.

The keynote address at the event was delivered by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul who made suggestions to make mediation more affective in India.

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud delivered the presidential address at the event and launched the SAMADHAN mobile application.
