CJI appeals to all citizens, lawyers to attempt resolving their cases speedily at upcoming Lok Adalat

The Chief Justice of India has issued a personal message on the upcoming Special Lok Adalat being organized by the Supreme Court of India from 29th of July to 3rd of August, 2024.

In his message, CJI DY Chandrachud has appealed on behalf of all the judges and staff of the Supreme Court to all the citizens with cases before the Supreme Court, all lawyers and Advocates on Record to take the advantage and benefit of this opportunity in an attempt to resolve their cases speedily and in a manner which is acceptable to every contesting party.

The CJI added that all the judges, as people dedicated to the institution of justice, are concerned about the large backlog of cases.

To commemorate the 75th year of its establishment, the Supreme Court of India is organising a Special Lok Adalat to facilitate amicable settlements of suitable pending cases.

Cases having elements of settlement including cases relating to matrimonial and property disputes, motor accident claims, land acquisition, compensation, service and labour which are pending before the Supreme Court would be taken up to facilitate speedy disposal.
