Commando accused of murdering wife says he was part of Operation Sindoor; Supreme Court denies relief

The Supreme Court of India has denied relief to a Black Cat Commando accused of murdering his wife by strangulating her.
A bench led by Justice Ujjal Bhuyan was told by the Commando seeking exemption from surrendering before the police. "I am a participant in Operation Sindoor. I am a Black Cat commando".
"That doesn't give you immunity. How physically fit you are, you alone could have strangulated your wife.", the bench told him in response.
Court noted the "gruesome manner" in which the Commando allegedly choked his wife to death. The petitioner's counsel told the court the only allegation against him was that he demanded a motorcycle in dowry.
"We decline the prayer for exemption from surrendering. Issue notice on the SLP returnable in six weeks", court went on to order.
During the hearing, the commando's counsel emphasized on his client's distinguished service record, noting his two-decade tenure with the Rashtriya Rifles, an elite counter-insurgency force.
