Today in Delhi High Court: Bench led by Justice Hari C Shankar Slams Saket Gokhale for his tweets against Lakshmi M. Puri.
Senior Advocate Maninder Singh for Lakshmi M Puri told the Court that the tweets by Gokhale were mala fide in nature.
Advocate Sarim Naved for Saket Gokhale informed Court that it was his Client’s right to make the comments & refused to take down the tweets against Justice Shankar then lashed out at the submission.
The defamation suit filed by Puri against Gohkale for his series of tweets raising questions about how she could have bought a house for 1.6 million Swiss Francs in Geneva in 2006.
“maliciously motivated, laced with canards and entail deliberate twisting of facts in order to cause reputational damage and irrevocable harm," Ms. Puri Claimed in Court
She said, “In order to substantiate his allegations, defendant has resorted to fudging and manipulation of the information related to sources of incomes of the Plaintiff and her husband by selectively taking details from the affidavit filed by the Plaintiff's husband in 2018 for filing his nomination for Rajya Sabha and twisting it in a mala fide manner for a wrong and per se defamatory presentation/interpretation.”
The Court has reserved Orders in the Suit.
