1. [Terror funding case] Special NIA Court at Patiala House has granted custody parole to jailed Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid to enable his attendance during the monsoon session of Parliament, scheduled from July 24 to August 4. Rashid has been lodged in Tihar Jail since 2019 after his arrest by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with a 2017 terror funding case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

2. [MCOCA case] A Delhi Court has allowed weekly monitored telephonic conversations and e-mulakat (video calls) for undertrials facing trial under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), including accused former AAP MLA Naresh Balyan, despite the investigating agency’s objection.

3. [IRCTC Scam case] A Delhi Court has deferred its order till August 5 on whether to frame charges against RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav, and others in connection with alleged irregularities in the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) scam case.

4. [Multi-crore corruption case] A Delhi Court has granted anticipatory bail to Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) president Montu M Patel in a multi-crore corruption case, finding that the CBI had failed to substantiate its allegations with any credible material. Patel was booked by the CBI for alleged corruption and irregularities in the inspection and approval of pharmacy colleges, following a preliminary enquiry that flagged systemic manipulation, pre-election inducements and post-election nepotism. The CBI had also conducted searches at Patel’s premises.

5. [26/11 Mumbai Attacks] A Delhi Court has directed Tihar Jail authorities to file a detailed response on a plea filed by 26/11 Mumbai terror attack accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana, who has sought permission to make a phone call to his family. Rana is a key conspirator in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and is accused of facilitating the operations of David Coleman Headley, who conducted reconnaissance in Mumbai ahead of the 2008 attacks. According to NIA, Rana had conspired with David Coleman Headley (also known as Daood Gilani), operatives of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Harkat-ul-Jihadi Islami (HUJI), and other Pakistan-based actors to orchestrate the devastating 2008 attacks.

6. [Delhi Riots 2020] A Delhi Court has directed the SHO of Karawal Nagar Police Station to register a separate FIR based on a complaint filed by a riot victim who alleged a targeted communal attack during the 2020 Northeast Delhi riots. The Court held that the complainant's version reveals the commission of serious cognizable offences and cannot be brushed aside by mechanically clubbing it with a general FIR that does not reflect the specific allegations.

7. [National Herald Case] A Delhi Court has deferred its decision on whether to take cognisance of the prosecution complaint (chargesheet) filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the high-profile National Herald money laundering case involving senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others. Special Judge Vishal Gogne of the Rouse Avenue Court listed the matter for inspection of prosecution material on August 7 and 8. A date for pronouncing the cognisance order will be fixed thereafter.

8. [Defamation Case] A Delhi Court has dismissed AAP leader Satyendar Jain’s revision plea challenging a magisterial court’s refusal to take cognisance of his criminal defamation complaint against BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj over alleged defamatory remarks made during a televised interview. Special Judge Jitendra Singh of Rouse Avenue Court upheld the February 20 order of the trial court, holding that there was no prima facie case to proceed against Swaraj under criminal defamation provisions. Jain had alleged that Swaraj falsely claimed, in a TV interview on October 5, 2023, that Rs. 3 crore in cash, 1.8 kg of gold, and 133 gold coins were recovered from his residence.

9. [POSH Act] A Delhi Court has answered the question, whether a man can seek legal protection from harassment, unwanted sexual advances, and emotional coercion? The Court answered the question in affirmation on July 25, 2025. Rohini Court granted injunctive relief to a man facing repeated threats, sexual harassment, and mental distress at the hands of a woman who sought to force a relationship on him.
