The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notice to the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) on the pleas moved by table tennis players Manush Shah and Swastika Ghosh challenging the non-selection for the upcoming Commonwealth Games (CWG).

Ghosh is the third player who moved to Delhi High Court after Divya Chitale and Manush Shah. Diya has now been included in the list of players. Earlier she was included as a reserve player, the same was the case with Manush Shah.

A single-judge bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri directed the counsel appearing for TTFI to take instructions on whether an amendment could be made after the list was submitted to Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

Counsel for Shah contended that despite fulfilling the criteria petitioner has been included as a reserved or standby player. Similarly, Counsel for Ghosh contended that the petitioner is India's No.4 and despite that, she had been included in the list of reserve players.

On the other hand, counsel for TTFI submitted that Diya Chitale had been included in the list of women’s players and Manush Shah is on the list of reserve players. It added that the same list had been emailed to IOA for forwarding to CWG.

It was further submitted that the selection process was finalized by a sports expert and rectified by the Committee of Administrators (CoA). To which, Court inquired, whether the petitioner can be included in the list of players.

Counsel for TTFI replied that it was not possible, as it will affect the interest of the players who are already on the list and they are not parties in the petition.

After a petition was filed by Diya Chitale, TTFI has included her in the players and has already filed a counter-affidavit on this point. The petitioners had approached the Delhi High Court challenging the selection process and its outcome.
