A Special Bench of the Delhi High Court, on Wednesday, continued hearing the bail plea of Umar Khalid, an accused in the larger conspiracy case pertaining to the North East Delhi Riots of 2020. Plea challenges the order of a Delhi Court denying bail to Khalid in the matter.
Senior Advocate Trideep Pais and Advocate Sanya Kumar, appearing for the accused, Umar Khalid, continued their arguments on how the chargesheet filed by the police was a complete fabrication.

On September 13,2020 Khalid was arrested in connection with communal clashes that broke out in northeast Delhi in February 2020, after violence between Citizenship (Amendment) Act supporters and its protesters became out of control leaving many people dead and several injured.
Khalid was granted bail in April, 2021 in another case but has been behind bars in Tihar Jail over conspiracy charges under UAPA.
