“He is a dangerous person”: UP government opposes interim bail of former Samajwadi Party MLA Doctor Singh

Garima Prashad, Sr. Adv and Additional Advocate General of the State of Uttar Pradesh today opposed the grant of interim bail application of former Samajwadi Party MLA Udhaybhan Singh aka Doctor Singh. She informed the court that Singh is, “He is a big danger to the society. There are 15 cases against him. His application in the Suo Motto case is pending, his writ petition on the same plea seeking sentence is pending”

Sanjay Hegde, Sr. Adv, appearing for the Singh submitted that he is over 70 years of age and that his co-accused in this case have been granted bail four months ago. He further submitted that this is a fir case for interim bail as Singh has been in jail for nearly 20 years.

The court on hearing the parties asked the State of UP to get instructions and inform the same to the court. The matter will now come up for hearing on 28th March.

Uday Bhan Singh aka Doctor Singh, was a member of legislative assembly belonging to Samajwadi party. He was convicted for triple murder and has been sentenced to life. He has been lodged at Bhadohi (Gyanpur) district jail. The court further asked Prashad to take instructions on early release of prisoners serving life terms.
