An intervention application has been filed by Vishnu Gupta, National President of Hindu Sena in a plea against the Haridwar hate speech incident stating, "followers of Islam are not supposed to raise objection against the affairs or activities related to Hindu Dharma Sansad."
The application has been filed in a pending petition filed by Qurban Ali seeking the Court’s intervention in respect of the ‘hate speeches’ that were delivered on December 17, 2021 at Haridwar at an event organised by Yati Narsinghanand, and on December 19, 2021, at Delhi, organised by an organization called ‘Hindu Yuva Vahini’.
However, Gupta in his application has stated that by way of this PIL, an effort is being made to scandalize the spiritual leaders of Hindus.
It states that, "every citizen of this country has freedom of conscience, practice and propagation of religion. Therefore, the Hindu Dharma Sansad by Hindus is protected by Article 19(a), (b) and Article 25 of the constitution of India.
Therefore the objections of the petitioner in the aforesaid matter are "against the constitutional scheme and encroachment on fundamental rights of Hindus."
The application further stated that, "The Hindu culture and civilization has been victim of foreigners. The fact is corroborated by the fact that temples in this country have been converted in to mosques by Muslim invaders right from Khilji dynasty up to Mugal dynasty."
"The prominent places of Hindu faith and worship have been either destroyed or converted into mosques and that is how with the passage of time, communal unrest started gaining momentum between Hindus and Muslims with the end of Mugal era and beginning of rule of East India Company," the application added.
Earlier, a bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana issued notice in the Public Interest Litigation seeking the Court's intervention in alleged hate speeches delivered in Haridwar and Delhi expressing its apprehension on other similar matters and intervention applications being filed with regard to the same issue.
