Justice Hima Kohli to head Supreme Court Gender Sensitization and Internal Complaints Committee

Synopsis

Senior Advocates Meenakshi Arora and Mahalakshmi Pavani have also been appointed as Members

On May 31, 2024, the Chief Justice of India has re-constituted the Supreme Court Gender Sensitization and Internal Complaints Committee.

Accordingly, Justice Hima Kohli has been appointed as the Chairperson with Justice BV Nagarathna as a Member.

Dr. Sukhda Pritam, Additional Registrar shall serve as the Member Secretary.

These appointments have been made by the CJI in exercise of powers conferred by Clause 4(2) of the Gender Sensitisation &
Sexual Harassment of Women at the Supreme Court of India (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Regulations, 2013.

Advocate Soumyajit Pani has been appointed as a representative of the Supreme Court Bar Association under Clause
4(2)(c) along with Anindita Pujari, Advocate-on-Record as a representative of the Supreme Court Advocate-on-Record
Association under Clause 4(2)(d) and Ms. Madhu Chauhan as representative of the Supreme Court Bar Clerks’ Association under
clause 4(2)(e).

The following have also been appointed as Members of the Committee as the Nominee of the Chief Justice of India:

  • Shruti Pandey, Professor of Legal Practice, Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University)
  • Jaideep Gupta, Senior Advocate, Senior Member of the Supreme Court Bar Association)
  • Dr. Leni Chaudhuri, Executive Director, University of Chicago Centre in India Pvt. Ltd.)
  • Dr. Menaka Guruswamy, Senior Advocate
