The lawyer has urged the CJI to take cognizance in view of his prompt action after a video from Manipur went viral recently where two women were seen being paraded naked by a mob

A lawyer on Friday wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) to take cognizance of a recent incident that happen in Dakshin Panchala, Howrah District, Bengal where a woman Gram sabha candidate was physically assaulted and molested by Trinamool Congress(TMC) workers.

As per the letter written to CJI DY Chandrachud by Advocate Vineet Jindal, the woman alleged that the TMC workers stripped her naked and paraded her around the village on the panchayat election day.

The woman has levelled the allegations against the TMC candidate from her Gram Sabha and his supporters.

While referring to CJI's prompt action after a video of similar nature from Manipur surfaced on social media recently, the letter states,

"We have seen that the Hon’ble CJI has taken note on the grave and shameful incident that occurred in Manipur where in a video two women were paraded by the goons and the Hon’ble CJI has instructed Center Government to take action on the incident and ensure that no such incident would take place in the future."

The lawyer states that the incident that happened in West Bengal is also shameful and inhuman like the incident that happened in Manipur.

"The act is shameful for the whole Nation and if strong action has not been taken then this kind of incident may be increased in future," the lawyer writes while expressing his apprehension.

Therefore, Advocate Jindal has urged the CJI to take suo motu cognizance on the incident in West Bengal and provide justice to the victim woman.
