[NEET PG Counselling] Supreme Court issues notice in plea concering delayed mop-up round counselling

Supreme Court has issued notice in a plea concerning the Second Round of NEET-PG counselling which is said to be still going on in some states, even when the mop-up round of counselling is at the verge of completion.

A CJI led bench has issued notices to states of Assam, Karnataka and Bihar, among others, that have not yet completed the second round of counselling asking them to do so by November 16.

Court added that further steps of mop up round shall stand deferred till Friday on which date directions will be issued.

When the matter was taken up today, Counsel appearing on behalf of State of Karnataka informed Court that the process of counselling was started on 19th September, 2022.

"13th October we finished first round but on 21st October High Court quashed the same at the instance of some students. We were asked to redo the round", Court was further told.

It is to be noted that the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has extended the last date to apply for the NEET PG counselling 2022 mop-up round till 11th November.
