NIA arrests Jaish-e-Mohammed member in Kashmir's Sunjuwan Terror Attack case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on May 25, 2022, arrested a key accused person in the Sunjuwan terrorist attack namely Abid Ahmad Mir from Pulwama, which took place on April 22 in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The case pertains to indiscriminate firing upon the security personnel, during a joint search operation in the area of Sunjwan, Jammu, by unknown terrorists in which one Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was martyred and several others were injured. The security forces retaliated against the attack and killed the two terrorists on the spot.
As per NIA, the case was initially registered in police station Bahu Fort, Jammu on April 22, 2022, and re-registered by it on April 26, 2022.
The investigation has revealed that the accused Abid Ahmad Mir is an “Over Ground Worker” of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and was a close associate of arrested accused Bilal Ahmed Wagay.
As per the press release, Mir was also in touch with Pakistan-based handlers of JeM. He knowingly and voluntarily had extended support to the other co-accused persons in the commission of the instant crime.
