Union government must take active steps to make sure the work of the national task force is completed within a reasonable time period, top court has earlier said
The Supreme Court has today directed that the interim report submitted by the national task force, set up by it to develop a protocol for doctor's safety, be placed before all stakeholders.
"The interim report of the NTF has its recommendations on 1. Prevention of violations against medical professionals and safe working conditions and 2. The prevention of sexual violation. The report contains short term, medium term and long term measures. Before directing compliance, we direct that it would appropriate to supply a copy of the report to all counsels and the Chief Secretaries of States and UTs. If any recommendations are to be made, a note can be submitted to the Standing Counsels of the states/UTs...", the bench has ordered.
Earlier, court had noted that the NTF had not made any substantial progress. Noting that after 9th September the task force had not had a meeting, the Chief Justice of India had said, "The task force must expedite their work".
The bench also comprising Justices Pardiwala and Manoj Misra was further of the view that the task force must complete their work withing a stipulated time.
