Server Down: Supreme Court adjourns case concerning removal of protestors from Delhi border amid pandemic surge

Supreme Court today adjourned the plea seeking directions for removal of protestors from the Delhi Border, in addition to issuance of guidelines to each State/UTs to stop all kind of protests in their respective States, till the pandemic gets over.

The petition is drawn by Advocate Shashank Shekhar Jha on behalf of petitioners, Sanjeev Newar and Swati Goel and filed by AOR Manju Jetley Sharma.

A special bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud was to hear the matter today. However, it was learnt that the bench could not conduct its everyday proceedings due to server connectivity.

The entire board was discharged for Thursday.

The petitioners have inter-alia prayed for;

  1. Issue a writ/order/direction to the Respondent to remove the protestors.
  2. Issue a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing the Respondent to issue guideline to each and every State and UTs to stop all kind of protests in their States and not permit them until the pandemic gets over.
