Sri Krishna Janmabhumi Mukti Aandolan Samiti has moved the Mathura Court in the Sri Krishna Janm Bhumi-Shahi Idgah dispute matter seeking Court's directions to stop Namaz that is being offered in the Shahi Idgah located on the road next to it.

"This is the property of Hindu Parties and Namaz was never offered in the Idgah Premises but in last few years the opposite parties have been offering five times namaz intentionally, which is legally impermissible," the plea states.

The application moved by the president of the Organisation further reads that "the place where the mosque had been constructed is a revered site for the Hindus as Lord Krishna was born there. In the year 1669, brutal attacker Aurangzeb got the mosque built after destroying the temple."

To strengthen his pleadings, the applicant has further stated that as per Holy Quran also, Namaz can't be offered on the disputed land. He adds,

"But the defendants with an intention to disturb the communal harmony, try to offer prayers on the main road, due to which the traffic is affected but they actually want to disturb the peace between the two communities."

Pointing towards the historical belonging of the disputed site to Hindus, the application also states that the walls of the mosque (Idgah walls) still have signs of “Om, Swastik, and Shesh Nag” which clearly suggest that a temple existed there before it was razed to the ground by Mughal invader Aurangzeb.

The other parties are trying to remove the religious signs of Om, “Shankh” & “Shesh Naag”, the plea says.

The matter is likely to be heard by the Court on January 5, 2022.

Earlier also, in June this year, the Samiti had filed an application before the Mathura Court stating that it will offer a larger piece of land in exchange for temple land, upon which the Shahi Masjid allegedly stands around the Katra Keshav Dev Temple complex.

The Samiti had requested the court to make that application a part of an earlier lawsuit for removal of the mosque from near the temple, pending with the court since December 2020.

As per Samiti's applications, there are several applications and petitions pending with various civil courts in Mathura, seeking the removal of the mosque allegedly built on orders of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1669-70 in the 13.37 acre premises of Katra Keshav Dev temple near the birthplace of Lord Sri Krishna.
