Court has added that no visitor shall be allowed to carry any weapons while meeting Abbas and he shall be brought back to Kasganj jail on April 13

A division bench of the Supreme Court has today allowed MLA Abbas Ansari, who is currently lodged in Kasganj jail, toattend his deceased father Mukhtar Ansari's Fatiha ritual tomorrow.

Abbas shall be taken from Kasganj jail to his hometown in police custody with adequate security, for which the Director General of Police has been asked to make arrangements.

Justices Surya Kant and KV Vishwanathan's bench has also Abbas to be with his family members on 11th and 12th post the Fatiha rituals are over.

"Authorities to ensure that petitioner starts his journey today before 5 PM. After the rituals are over tomorrow, petitioner shall temporarily be shifted to Ghazipur jail", the order adds.

Abbas's father Mukhtar Ansari died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in Banda in Uttar Pradesh on March 28.

Originally, Abbas has moved the Supreme Court seeking permission to attend his father's funeral. But as the matter could not get listed in time, Advocate Nizam Pasha, appearing for Abbas told the court that he was going to file an amendment plea, seeking to attend the Fatiha which is to happen on April 10.

Arguing against Abbas's plea, State of UP pointed out today before court that Ansari was involved in multiple criminal cases, he was a history sheeter with over 11 cases pending against him and in the event of grant of bail, there was a likelihood of tampering of witnesses.

"He deserves no liniency, he has been shifted from Chitrakoot jail because he was keeping a gang in jail...there is no ground at all for any relief to be given to him..all of his family members are there, his brother is there..", AAG Garima Prashad told the bench.

However, court was of the view that there was no reason to deny the petitioner permission to attend the ritual tomorrow.

Following the demise of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari in a hospital in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, a three-member team has been asked to conduct a thorough magisterial investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Banda has ordered this judicial probe, with the process set to include a post-mortem examination conducted by a panel of two doctors, which will be recorded on video.

Sibgatullah Ansari, Mukhtar Ansari's elder brother, has also highlighted concerns regarding Mukhtar Ansari's medical treatment prior to his demise.
