Supreme Court imposes Rs 25k costs on person who sought compensation from Youtube for sexual ads

The Supreme Court of India today dismissed the plea filed by a man who had sought compensation of Rs. 75 lakhs from Youtube for distracting him from his studies with sexual ads.
The matter was being heard by Justice Sanjay K. Kaul and AS Oka who called the petition “atrocious” and said the petitioner could have easily ignored the ads.
The bench also said that such petitions are a waste of the time of the Judiciary. The Court had initially imposed a cost of Rs. 1 Lakh which was later reduced to 25K.
“Cost kam kardunga par maaf nahi karunga,” said Justice Kaul.
The Cost was reduced from 1 lakh to 25K after the petitioner-in-person apologized to the court and said that he was a labourer.
The petitioner had sought Rs 75 lakh compensation from Google-owned streaming platform alleging he was distracted by the sexual content in advertisements on the platform while he was preparing for the exam and hence he was unable to pass a police recruitment examination.
Additionally, he had sought blanket ban on nudity on social media platforms.
