Supreme Court judges who delivered Ayodhya verdict invited for Ram Mandir's 'Pran Pratishtha' Ceremony

CJI Chandrachud has also been requested by BCI to declare January 22nd as a holiday stating that his gesture would not only recognize the profound cultural significance of the Shri Ram Mandir inauguration but also demonstrate a harmonious blend of legal processes with the cultural ethos of our nation

The Supreme Court's five-judge bench which had delivered the Ayodhya Verdict in 2019, in favour of the construction of the Ram Mandir have been invited for the Pran Pratishtha event which is to take place on Monday January 22, 2024.

Constitution bench comprising former CJI Ranjan Gogoi, former CJI SA Bobde, present CJI DY Chandrachud and former judges of the Supreme Court, Justices Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer has been sent an invite.

Notably, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and former Attorney General KK Venugopal are also among the invitees.

Recently, citing the religious, cultural, national, and international importance of inauguration of the Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Bar Council of India's chairman has requested the Chief Justice of India to consider declaring a holiday in the Supreme Court, High Courts, District Courts, and other courts across India on 22nd January 2024.

The inauguration ceremony, scheduled between 14th and 22nd January 2024, which includes a 7-day agenda of rituals and events, leading up to the Pran Pratishtha ceremony on 22nd January, 2024, marked by the presence of dignitaries and religious leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi is said to signify the victory of truth and the fulfillment of a deeply cherished dream.

Senior Advocate Manan Kumar Mishra, the BCI Chairman has further stated in his letter that the holiday on January 22nd would allow members of the legal fraternity and court staff to participate in or observe the inauguration ceremonies in Ayodhya and other related events across the country.

Referring to the Supreme Court's judgment on the Ram Mandir, the letter states, "The Supreme Court's historic verdict on 9th November 2019, which affirmed the birthplace of Lord Rama and allocated the disputed land for the construction of the temple, resonated with the truth and beliefs of the Hindu community."
