Supreme Court seeks explanation from Registry why matters marked "ready" are not being listed; reply to be submitted by tomorrow

The court passes these directions while hearing a plea which was filed way back in August 2021, and though the matter was ready to be listed, it was never listed before the Supreme Court on any occasion till October 21, 2022.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday sought a reply from the Registry as to why matters which are marked as “Ready” were not listed before the Court.
This direction came to be issued by a CJI UU Lalit led bench after it noted that a matter which it was hearing, was not listed before the Court in a year and a half despite it had been “Ready” to be listed.
Accordingly, the top court went on to issue notice to the Registry to file an explanation why the matter was not listed before the Court in a year and a half despite it being “Ready” to be listed.
"The Registry should also indicate whether any similar matters which were marked as “Ready” but were not listed before the Court. All the details pertaining to such matters shall be furnished alongwith an explanation and if any remedial steps have since then been taken those steps must also be adverted to...", ordered a bench also comprising Justice Bela M Trivedi.
Registry is supposed to file an explanation on or before November 3, 2022, i.e., tomorrow.
"List for reporting compliance on 03.11.2022.", further ordered the court.
