The police had issued the notice in response to a complaint filed by Akhil, a Bajrang Dal activist, who claimed that Pallavi made comments in an interview comparing cow protectors to Kashmiri terrorists.

Justice Kanneganti Lalitha of the Telangana High Court on Thursday dismissed a plea filed by actress Sai Pallavi seeking to set aside a notice sent by Circle Inspector of Sultan Bazaar, Hyderabad over her comments hurting the religious sentiments of a section of people.

Pallavi challenged the police summons before the High Court as 'illegal' and 'arbitrary'.

The plea claimed that the impugned notice was issued based on a malicious petition that failed to specify the substance of the petitioner's offense, if any, or what complaints the respondent found serious enough to issue the impugned notice.

The plea also stated that there is no reference in the challenged notice to any violation of a criminal statute that would justify the issuance of such notice.

Furthermore, it stated that nothing in the Criminal Procedure Code justifies the issuance of any notice similar to the one that is being contested.

The police had issued the notice in response to a complaint filed by Akhil, a Bajrang Dal activist, who claimed that she made comments in an interview comparing cow protectors to Kashmiri terrorists.
