The plaintiffs before the Mathura Court have claimed that the mosque was built under the orders of Aurangzeb after destroying a temple of Lord Shri Krishna.
In one of the suits pertaining to the Shahi Idgah mosque-Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple dispute, a local court at Mathura in Uttar Pradesh has ordered the court Amin (court officer) to conduct a survey of the disputed land.
Civil Judge (Senior Division) Sonika Verma directed the Civil Court Amin to submit the survey report along with maps before the Court by January 20.
The order was passed in the plea moved by National President of Hindu Sena Vishnu Gupta. Gupta had moved the plea for the survey in the suit which he filed on December 8 this year seeking removal of the Shahi Idgah mosque and possession of the land.
Gupta has alleged that the disputed land where the Shahi Idgah currently stands was originally Shri Krishna's birthplace. He claimed that Mugal Ruler Aurangzeb got the Krishna temple demolished to get a mosque erected in its place.
It is to be noted, on August 29 this year, the Allahabad High Court had directed the local court at Mathura to decide the application pending before it seeking appointment of a court commissioner for a videography survey of the Shahi Idgah mosque expeditiously and preferably within a period of four months.
The order was passed on a plea moved by Manish Yadav, the main plaintiff in the suit filed before the Mathura court for removal of alleged encroachment and superstructure built on land belonging to deity Shree Krishna Virajman (Original Suit No. 152 of 2021).
There are several applications and petitions pending with various civil courts in Mathura, seeking the removal of the mosque allegedly built on orders of Aurangzeb in 1669-70 in the 13.37 acre premises of Katra Keshav Dev temple near the birthplace of Lord Sri Krishna.
They have also demanded the annulment of a 1967 court ruling, ratifying a deal reached between the Shree Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan and Shahi Idgah Management Committee, allowing the existence of the mosque near the temple.
