NHRC seeks action taken report from SSP Farrukhabad In Custodial Death Case
It was alleged that the victim was arrested by the police during the night hours of June 23 and was taken into custody wherein he was brutally beaten by police which caused his death.
In the alleged custodial death case of a 35-year-old man in Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought an action taken report from the Senior Superintendent of Police of the area within four weeks.
Recently, the State Human Rights Commission has also sought a report from the Superintendent of Police of the area. The State Commission will hear the matter tomorrow i.e. July 13.
One Gajendra Singh Yadav filed a complaint before NHRC pertaining to allegation of death of one Gautam Singh Sisodia on account of torture by police in their custody.
It was alleged that the victim was arrested by the police during the night hours of June 23 and was taken into custody wherein he was brutally beaten by police which caused his death.
It was further stated that after the death, the police left the dead body 100 meters away from his house. Yadav had sought intervention of the Commission for a fair enquiry in the matter.
The Commission directed its Registry to transmit the copy of complaint to the concerned authority i.e. the Senior Superintendent of Police, Farukhabad, Uttar Pradesh calling for an action taken report.
"The concerned authorities shall also intimate the Commission, if any, notice, order etc., has been received by him/them in the instant matter from the State Human Rights Commission? If yes, a copy of such order be also sent to the Commission within four weeks," the Commission further ordered.
Moreover, Commission directed a copy of complaint to be also transmitted to the Secretary of the UP State Human Rights Commission, calling upon him to inform it of the date of cognizance, if any, taken at their end in the instant matter within four weeks.
