Multiple applications and petitions are pending with various civil courts in Mathura that allege that the Shahi Idgah mosque was built under the orders of Aurangzeb after destroying a temple of Lord Shri Krishna.

Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha's Dinesh Sharma has moved a plea before the local court in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh seeking the presence of the officials of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) during the court-ordered survey of the disputed land at Shahi Idgah mosque.

In one of the suits pertaining to the Shahi Idgah mosque-Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple dispute which was recently filed, the local court, on December 22, had ordered the court Amin (court officer) to conduct a survey of the disputed land.

Civil Judge (Senior Division) Sonika Verma had ordered the Civil Court Amin to submit the survey report along with maps before the Court by January 20, 2023. This order was passed in the plea moved by the National President of Hindu Sena Vishnu Gupta.

Gupta, in his suit, has sought removal of the Shahi Idgah mosque and possession of the land.

In the present application, Sharma, who is the National Treasurer of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, has stated that at the Idgah, there exist remains of an ancient temple as there were multiple ancient artifacts, historical inscriptions on its wall which have been overturned. He has claimed that it reflects the intention to hide the existence of the ancient temple at the disputed land.

Therefore, he has prayed before the court that to determine the correct date of installation of those stones at Idgah, to bring the correct facts before the court and to reach the correct conclusion, it is necessary that ASI officials should be present during the survey of Court Amin.

In the instant suit, it has been alleged that the disputed land where the Shahi Idgah currently stands was originally Shri Krishna's birthplace. It has also been claimed that Mugal Ruler Aurangzeb got the Krishna temple demolished to get a mosque erected in its place.

There are several applications and petitions pending with various civil courts in Mathura, seeking the removal of the mosque allegedly built on orders of Aurangzeb in 1669-70 in the 13.37 acre premises of Katra Keshav Dev temple near the birthplace of Lord Sri Krishna.

They have also demanded the annulment of a 1967 court ruling, ratifying a deal reached between the Shree Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan and Shahi Idgah Management Committee, allowing the existence of the mosque near the temple.
