In front of the college gate, the KSU members had put up banners that said "A Big No To Modi" along with two hashtags, ‘#No Compromise’, and ‘#Save Lakshadweep’

The day after the Kerala Students Union (KSU) opposed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow, turmoil unfolded around the Government Law College, Ernakulam. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists had found the KSU's banners saying “A Big No to Modi” provocative.

In front of the college gate, the KSU members had put up banners that also contained two hashtags, ‘#No Compromise’, and ‘#Save Lakshadweep’.

The police, though removed the banner and took into custody KSU college unit office-bearers— Muhammed Aslam P.K., the unit president, and unit secretary Aaron Kurien, KSU raised some more posters just hours before the Prime Minister’s visit.

The actions of KSU triggered the BJP activists, leading to some of them breaking through the police barricade, eager for a confrontation with KSU activists, thereby posing a significant challenge for law enforcement.

KSU claimed that the banner was raised in response to the issues affecting the people of Manipur and Lakshadweep.

In view of the confrontation between KSU and BJP activists, members of the security team of the Prime Minister took up the matter with the police.

However, KSU members alleged that activists affiliated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) attempted to force entry into the college campus by forcibly bringing down the college gate.
