As per the prosecution, not only did the man commit rape but he also demanded to have a physical relationship with his mother
A Bulandshahr fast-track court in Uttar Pradesh has sentenced a 38-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping his 60-year-old mother in a farm.
Additional District Judge-II, Varun Mohit Nigam, described the case as "rarest of the rare" and a reflection of societal decay.
The victim, who lived with her two sons after her husband's death 10 years ago, was accompanied by the elder son to the farm on January 16, 2023. He raped her and threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident. The younger son lodged a complaint six days later, leading to the arrest of the accused. In the FIR, charges were invoked against the accused under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
Despite the doctor's opinion finding no evidence of sexual intercourse, the court relied on the mother's testimony, stating that her uncorroborated statement was sufficient evidence. The court imposed a fine of Rs 51,000 on the convict.
As per Times of India's report, according to Additional District Govt Counsel (ADGC), Vijay Sharma, the accused demanded a physical relationship with his mother and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident. The woman testified that the crime committed by her own son would haunt her for the rest of her life.
