A Bengaluru Court has issued an ex parte temporary injunction against social media companies, restraining them from publishing any defamatory content against former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP Leader Basavaraj Bommai.
This order was passed after an advocate claimed to have accessed private videos of Bommai. An ex parte order is passed without hearing the other party when the court believes that the alleged act could severely affect the rights of the plaintiff.

Additional City Civil and Sessions Judge Vani A Shetty issued an order directing 'X' (formerly Twitter) to take down the post by KN Jagadeesh, which had gone viral on the platform.
In the post, the lawyer claimed that a close aide of Bommai had filed a case against him, leading to his summons.
The advocate also asserted that the videos he had access to were related to Bommai's tenure as Chief Minister.
Consequently, the court granted an ex parte temporary injunction, restraining the respondents, including Jagadeesh and other social media outlets, from publishing any defamatory content against Bommai.
