A Mumbai court has granted bail to Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, who is the father of the accused in the BMW hit-and-run case.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate SP Bhosale had earlier remanded Rajesh and his driver to 14 days of judicial custody. However, the court later granted bail to Rajesh on a cash bond of Rs. 15,000.

Mihir Shah, the 24-year-old son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, crashed into a two-wheeler early Sunday morning at around 5:30 AM, resulting in the death of 45-year-old Kaveri.

Mihir allegedly lost control of his BMW, causing the collision that led to Kaveri's immediate death. Her husband, who also sustained injuries in the accident, was later discharged from the hospital.

The accident occurred on Annie Besant Road after Mihir Shah was returning from a long drive at Marine Drive, following a night of partying in Juhu.

Since the time of the accident, Mihir has been absconding. The Mumbai Police have formed 14 teams to search for him and have issued a lookout notice against him.

His father, Rajesh Shah, and their driver have also been booked for aiding Mihir in the offence. Allegedly, Rajesh Shah made multiple calls to his son after the accident.
