The high court granted bail to Kohli who was in jail for more than a year after considering the arguments of the parties.
A Single Judge Bench of Justice Nitin W Sambre of Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Bollywood actor Aarman Kohli in a Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic Substances case against him for possession of drugs and financing illicit traffic and harboring offenders.
Justice Sambre has directed Aarman Kohli to be released on a bond of Rs.1 Lakh with two sureties of like amounts. The court has directed Kohli to not influence any witness in any manner or tamper with any evidence. Further, if the applicant is found involved in any similar offense then the NCB is allowed to move for cancellation of bail. The court also directed Armaan Kohli to surrender his passport to the trial court and appear before NCB once in a month.
Kohli was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau for possession of a small quantity of cocaine for consumption under the Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act. He was also charged with trafficking drugs.
The advocate for Kohli admitted to the consumption of drugs and refused the trafficking and selling of drugs. Further, he also argued that mere withdrawal of cash and screenshot of Whatsapp chat do not attract financing illicit traffic and harboring offenders under the NDPS Act.
The Bombay High Court had earlier rejected the bail of Aarman Kohli in 2021.
A separate reasoned order is awaited.
