The Bombay High Court has upheld the life imprisonment awarded to a man for sexually assaulting 5 minors.
The division bench of the high court comprising Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice PK Chavan was hearing the appeal filed by the man against the order of sessions court of vasai convicting the man.
The man was convicted for sexually assaulting 5 minors aged between 8-13 for over two years between 2011 to 2013.
When a 4 year old boy saw the man sexually assault a minor, he informed the minor's mother which led to an FIR being filed.
Subsequently, 4 other minors revealed that they were also sexually assaulted by the man.
The medical examination revealed that the minors were sexually assaulted.
The man argued that he was being framed in the case as there was an ongoing land dispute.
The prosecution alleged that in the pretext of cleaning vessels or buying bidi for him, and then exploited them.
He also threatened them to beat them and bury them if they informed anyone.
While upholding the judgement of the sessions court the bench said that, "Considering the evidence, it is evident that all the five victim survivors were sexually assaulted by the appellant. Not only the evidence of the survivors inspires confidence but the same stands duly corroborated by the medical evidence and the evidence of PW6 who had witnessed the incident of sexual assault" the order reads.
