Calcutta HC to hear tomorrow Governor CV Ananda Bose’s defamation suit against Mamata Banerjee

High Court was slated to hear the case today but it was adjourned on the Governor's counsel's request seeking time to add parties to the suit

The Calcutta High Court today adjourned hearing in the defamation suit filed by West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose against the state's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Bose has filed the instant suit against alleged comments made by Banerjee and some other TMC leaders. The West Bengal governor has also prayed for an interim injunction on further statements by the defendants in the defamation suit.

Justice Krishna Rao of the High Court today noted that publications referred to in the suit have not been made party to it.

Accordingly, Bose's counsel sought time to file a fresh application, incorporating necessary changes.

Mamata Banerjee allegedly claimed women complained to her that they were afraid to visit the Raj Bhavan because of the activities there.

Notably, On May 2, a contractual woman employee of Raj Bhavan had made an allegation of molestation against Bose, following which the Kolkata Police started an inquiry.
