The Delhi High Court today issued notice plea by seven doctor's association against Baba Ramdev for allegedly spreading misinformation against allopathy that allopathy was responsible for the deaths of several people infected by COVID-19.

The matter was listed for hearing on July 26 before the bench of Justice C Hari Shankar, however due to the unavailability of the bench the matter adjourned till July 30, 2021.

The Court seeking response form Ramdev has listed the matter for next hearing on August 10.

The petition has been filed by three Resident Doctors' Association of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences at Rishikesh, Patna and Bhubaneshwar, Association of Resident Doctors, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh, Union of Resident Doctors of Punjab (URDP); Resident Doctors' Association, Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College, Meerut and Telangana Junior Doctors' Association, Hyderabad.

The petitioners have submitted In their plea that Baba Ramdev  being an influential person his remarks against allopathy was insinuating people that allopathy doctors were responsible for causing deaths of people suffering from Covid 19.

The plea further alleges that Baba Ramdev was sowing doubts in the minds of general public with respect to the safety and efficacy of not only allopathic treatments but also COVID-19 vaccines.

The Delhi High Court had earlier issued summons to Baba Ramdev on a suit filed by Delhi Medical Association (DMA) seeking to restrain him from disseminating false information about Patanjali's Coronil kit that is a cure for COVID19.

The Single Judge Bench of Justice C Hari Shankar observed that Baba Ramdev's comments were intra vires, under article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution and said that the DMA, instead of filing a suit, should be busy finding remedies for the virus.
