[Hindu Priest Killing] NIA files charge sheet against one accused in Punjab

Synopsis

The Central agency on Friday filed a supplementary charge sheet against an accused in a case involving Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) terrorists, plotting to kill a Hindu priest in Jalandhar, Punjab, last year.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday, filed a supplementary charge sheet before the NIA Special Court, Jalandhar, against an accused in a case related to the conspiracy by Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) terrorists to kill a Hindu priest, Kamaldeep Sharma in Jalandhar, Punjab in 2021.

The accused namely, Gagandeep Singh has been charged under Sections 120B read with 307 IPC, Sections 25(7), 25(8) of Arms Act, and Sections 17, 18, 20 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

“Investigations have revealed that the entire conspiracy was hatched by accused Harshdeep Singh Nijjar and Arshdeep Singh, both based in Canada, to disturb peace and disrupt the communal harmony”, the NIA press release stated.

The NIA press release further stated, “The targeted attack was executed by the members of terror gang with the weapons supplied by accused Gagandeep Singh @ Guddu on the directions of Arshdeep.”

As per the NIA press release, the NIA had filed a charge sheet against the four accused persons on July 4, 2022.
