The court issued notice to the cricketer to provide explanation with regards an agreement signed between him and a Sports company to operate cricket academies in his name
The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, issued a notice to Former Captain of the Indian cricket team Mahendra Singh Dhoni, to appear and provide an explanation regarding his claims in connection with a dispute with his former partners, Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Das. The two, who are directors of Aarka Sports and Management Ltd, had previously collaborated with Dhoni to establish cricket academies, within India and abroad, using his name.
The High Court’s notice follows a challenge by Diwakar and Das, to the judicial magistrate’s cognizance of the complaint filed by Dhoni in Ranchi. The two partners had approached the High Court opposing the criminal complaint against them.
Dhoni had filed a criminal complaint on January 5 this year, alleging that Diwakar and Das continued to operate cricket academies under his name despite withdrawing their authorization in 2021. According to the complaint, this unauthorized use resulted in a significant financial loss of Rs 15 crore for the cricketer. Dhoni had collaborated with Diwakar and Das in 2017 to establish these academies but later on revoked his authority to operate the business with his name involved.
