A recent incident in Uttar Pradesh has raised concerns over the safety of a woman civil judge, who reportedly received a death threat via letter. The Uttar Pradesh Police has taken action by lodging a First Information Report (FIR) under Sections 506 and 467 of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the FIR filed at the Kotwali Nagar police station in Banda district, the threatening letter was received by the judge on March 28. In the letter, the judge identified three individuals and suggested checking CCTV footage from the post office to unveil the sender's identity and expose any potential conspiracy.

The judge alleged that while the letter contained the name and contact details of the sender, she suspected they could be falsified.

The female judge had previously levied allegations of sexual harassment against another judge. As per the FIR, the matter is pending before the high court.

"It is possible that the above name, address and mobile number are fake. But if the CCTV of the post office is taken out and examined, it will become clear by whom the envelope has been registered and the conspiracy will be exposed. It is requested that you please register an FIR under sections 506 and 467 of the Indian Penal Code against the above named persons along with the unnamed persons," the FIR states.
