A Judge in Uttar Pradesh alleges he was physically attacked by members of Unnao Bar Association, FIR registered

An FIR has been registered on March 25, 2021 by the Additional District & Session Judge (Special Court, POCSO Act) Prahlad Tondon at Unnao. He wrote a letter to the SHO, Unnao (Kotwali Police Station) alleging that he was abused, kicked and slapped within the premises of his courtroom by the members of the Unnao Bar Association.

"Around 150-200 advocates entered my court shouting and made slogans. They started throwing the chair and table here and there in the courtroom and also bashed the table dais harder and started abusing,"- stated the judge in the letter.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the advocates who have been mentioned in the letter.

According to the judge's letter, at around 11 am on 25th March, a mob of 150-200 lawyers, along with the President and General Secretary of the Bar Association, entered courtroom number 11, where the Judge was sitting and started shouting slogans, abusing him and started throwing the chair and table in the courtroom.

The letter further stated that, “I tried to go to my chamber, these people surrounded me and slapped me with kicking and pushed and grabbed my mobile.”

In the letter written by the judge, he had requested the police to initiate an immediate inquiry into the alleged incident. Accordingly, an FIR has been registered by the Police Station. a copy of the letter has also been forwarded sent to the registrar general, Allahabad High Court and District Judge,Unnao.
