Synopsis

Kamaal R. Khan was granted bail by the Borivali court in a case filed against him for a tweet in 2020 against Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor.

A Mumbai court granted bail to Kamaal R. Khan after he was arrested by the Mumbai police for a controversial tweet against Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor in 2020.

Earlier in 2020, Khan had made certain derogatory comments on twitter after Irrfan Khan's death and for Rishi Kapoor on his illness. Subsequently, complaints were filed against him.

The Borivali Court while granting bail to Khan noted that “I have thoughtfully considered rival written and oral grounds. In fact, the crime is of the year 2020 registered on the basis of a Tweet alleged to be made by the accused. The prosecution not came with any incident occurred in consequence of the alleged Tweet made by the accused. Maximum punishment for the major offence in present crime is less than or which may extend up to seven years. Therefore, considering present trend for grant of bail in such category of cases, certainly the accused deserves to be released on bail on certain conditions.”

The court granted bail to khan on the condition that:

1. Personal bond of Rs.15000 should be executed with surety or cash security by Khan

2. Khan should attend the police station on the second and fourth Monday between 10 and 11 am until the filing of the charge sheet or for 60 days, whichever is less.

3. Khan shall not tamper with prosecution evidence or contact witnesses, and Khan shall not leave the city of Mumbai without permission of the court.

Earlier Khan was arrested in a 2019 molestation case where he was granted bail.
