[PLGA Recruitment Scam] NIA Files Charge Sheet Against 2 Accused In Kerala

Synopsis

The case involves the recruitment and training of youths by CPI (Maoist) leaders and their frontal organizations, as well as the organization of camps to carry out their activities and spread Maoist ideologies.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday i.e. September 3, 2022, filed a charge sheet before the NIA Special Court, Ernakulam against two accused for their involvement in the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) recruitment of youths for the proscribed terrorist organization CPI (Maoist).

The case pertains to the recruitment and training of such youths by CPI (Maoist) leaders and their frontal organizations besides organizing camps to further carry out their activities and spread Maoist ideologies.

The two accused charge-sheeted are:

  1. Kambhampati Chaitanya @ Chaithanya under Sections 120B, 121A, 122, 123 of IPC, Section 18, 20, 38, and 39 of the UA(P) Act, 1967.
  2. Anjineyulu Velugutra @ Sudhakar under Sections 120B, 121A, 122, 123 of IPC, Section 18, 18B, 20, 38, and 39 of the UA(P) Act, 1967.

As per the Investigation accused Sanjay Deepak Rao @ Vikas, a Central Committee Member from the Western Ghats Special Zonal Committee (WGSZC) of CPI (Maoist), Pinaka Pani @Pani and Varalakshmi, members of the Revolutionary Writers Association, a frontal organization of CPI (Maoist) in Andhra Pradesh, Sreekanth of Wayanad and Anjaneyalu alias Sudhakar of Andhra Pradesh had radicalized Chaithanya @ Surya to join the proscribed terrorist organization CPI (Maoist).

“After recruitment, he imparted training to threaten the security, unity, integrity, and sovereignty of the Union of India”, the NIA press release stated.

As per the NIA press release, the case was registered suo-moto by NIA on February 30, 2022.
